Laddr's free guide, Grow your plumbing business with a jetter

Is a drain jetter worth it? Free guide for plumbers

Every blocked drain you pass on is a job that goes to someone else. Often the customer goes with it. If you're getting those calls every week, a jetter could pay for itself sooner than you'd think.

Short on time? Here's the lowdown:

Passing on a blocked drain means passing on the first-hour charge, the follow-up work and sometimes the customer.
In our worked example, a $15,000 jetter doing three jobs a week earns back its price in week 13.
Our free guide has the full maths, plus worksheets to run your own numbers before you buy.

What you give away when you pass it on

Without a jetter, a blocked-drain call usually goes to a drain specialist. They get the first-hour charge. They may also get the camera inspection that follows, and the reline after that.

And your customer now has another plumber's number.

The short version of the maths

In the guide's example, a plumber charges $400 for the first hour of a jetter job and does three a week. That's $57,600 a year in extra revenue. At that rate, a $15,000 jetter has paid for itself by week 13.

Your numbers will be different. The guide has a worksheet to work out yours, including running costs and what changes if you're already flat out.

Buy, hire or keep passing it on?

Each one suits a different business, and it comes down to how many calls you actually get. The guide compares all three side by side and includes an eight-week call log, so you're deciding on real numbers, not a hunch.

It doesn't stop at the blocked drain

A jetter can be the first step into camera inspections, relining and regular maintenance work for strata, real estate and commercial kitchens. The guide maps out how one leads to the next.
